When you are using hydraulic cylinders and puller studs, always ensure that the rated capacity of the puller stud meets or exceeds the rated capacity of the hydraulic cylinder. If the puller stud does not meet or exceed the rated capacity of the hydraulic cylinder, a sudden failure of the puller stud could occur. The sudden failure of the puller stud could result in personal injury or death.

Position Tooling (A) under boom (1) to gain access to the lift cylinder pins. The weight of boom (1) is approximately 3300 kg (7275 lb).

Attach a suitable lifting device to lift cylinder (2). The weight of cylinder (2) is approximately 400 kg (882 lb).

Remove bolt (3).

Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (B). The weight of Tooling (B) is approximately 136 kg (300 lb). Install Tooling (B) onto pin assembly (4). The weight of Tooling (B) and pin assembly (4) is approximately 181 kg (400 lb). Remove Tooling (B) and pin assembly (4). Lower lift cylinder (2) on to suitable cribbing.
Repeat Steps 2 through 4 for the opposite side.

Remove bolts (5) and cover (6). Disconnect harness assemblies (7).

Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (C). The weight of Tooling (C) is approximately 136 kg (300 lb). Install Tooling (C) onto pin assembly (8). The weight of Tooling (C) and pin assembly (8) is approximately 181 kg (400 lb). Remove Tooling (C), pin assembly (8).
Repeat Step 8 for the opposite side.

Install boom (1) in the reverse order of removal.
Check and replace lip seals if necessary. If replacing the lip seal, apply Tooling (E) to the bore.
Lubricate the diameter of A-pin (4) with Tooling (F). Use Tooling (D) to install A-pin (4). Add Tooling (G) through grease hardware until lubricant extrudes from seal.
Lubricate the diameter of K-pin (8) with Tooling (F). Use Tooling (D) to install K-pin (8). Add Tooling (G) through grease hardware until lubricant extrudes from seal.
