Adjustment of the Brakes:
1. Install support assemblies (6), booster housings and the levers that are fastened to the housings.2. Turn socket (12) clockwise until the brake band is tight on the brake drum. Then turn socket (12) counterclockwise one and 1/2turns or nine clicks (the noise heard when a detent is felt).3. Install the remainder of the brake linkage.4. Adjust rod assembly (5) for left brake so distance (B) between front of left brake pedal and bottom front of seat frame is 19.00 .12 in. (482.6 3.0 mm) for machines with open ROPS and 17.44 in. (443.0 mm) for machines with ROPS cab. Tighten nuts for rod assembly (5) to ... 75 10 lb. ft.(100 14 N m5. Remove pin that connects rod assembly (10) to lever (11).6. Loosen nut (9) and adjust rod assembly (10) so right brake pedal is in alignment with the left brake pedal. Tighten nut (9) to 75 10 lb. ft. If the mechanism has been assembled with new parts, or shims (18) behind plate (17) have been lost, make the adjustment that follows.1. Install a .375 in. (9.53 mm) diameter rod through the holes (8) in support housing (6) and bellcrank (7).2. Hold lever assembly (14) against the back plate of the support housing.3. Hold lever assemblies (15 and 16) apart to remove movement (slack) in the linkage.4. Measure distance (C) between lever assembly (16) and plate (17) with a feeler gauge. Adjust rod end (3) and connect it to the linkage for lever (4).5. Tighten nuts (2) to 9 3 lb. ft. (12 4 N m). Brake pedal must be in ENGAGED position.
