Personal injury or death can result from improperly checking for a leak.Always use a board or cardboard when checking for a leak. Escaping air or fluid under pressure, even a pin-hole size leak, can penetrate body tissue causing serious injury, and possible death.If fluid is injected into your skin, it must be treated immediately by a doctor familiar with this type of injury.
Accumulated grease and oil on a work tool is a fire hazard.Remove debris with steam cleaning or high pressure water at any time a significant quantity of oil is spilled on the work tool.
When cleaning the Tilt-Rotator, avoid using a pressure washer on electrical components and the seals between the rotor and work tool. The pressure washer may force in dirt and cause serious damage.
Note: If major repairs to the Tilt-Rotator are required, consult your Caterpillar dealer.
For the maximum service life of the work tool, make a thorough daily inspection before you mount a work tool to the host machine.
Inspect the Tilt-Rotator for the following conditions: loose bolts, oil leaks, broken parts, missing parts and cracked components. Check the overall condition of the Tilt-Rotator. Check the overall condition of the hydraulic system, and electrical system.
Inspect the condition of the hydraulic lines and the hydraulic fittings.
Check the mounting pins for the Tilt-Rotator.
Check the lifting device. If damage is present do not use the lifting device. Contact your Caterpillar dealer for repairs.
Perform all repairs before you put the Tilt-Rotator into service.
Perform an uncouple and couple cycle of the wedge to provide a smooth operation of the wedge.
Perform a tilt and rotate cycle of the Tilt-Rotator to check all functions.
