Schematic of the Power Mode Function circuit connections.The Power Mode Function enables the selection of a lower hydraulic output when machine working conditions do not require full hydraulic power output. The Machine ECM will also use the Power Mode Function to reduce the hydraulic power output during certain machine operating conditions. The Machine ECM can activate three different power modes for machine operation. Two of the power modes can be selected by the operator for machine operation. The two operator selectable power modes are the "Economy Mode" and the "Power Mode". The third power mode that the ECM can activate during machine travel or under certain other machine conditions is the "Travel Mode".The Operator selects either the Economy Mode or the Power Mode using the Power Mode Button on the Soft Switch Panel (SSP).When activating a power mode, the ECM adjusts the output of the main and swing pumps. The ECM uses the output of the Main and Swing Pump Power Shift Solenoids to adjust the main and swing pumps.The power modes for each machine model have a software "map" used by the ECM to adjust the power output for the position of the Engine Speed Dial. Each mode map specifies a main pump power, swing pump power and, indirectly, a nominal engine torque curve.The ECM controls the main pump power and swing pump power according to the output torque values that are defined for the selected mode. The ECM will adjust the electrical output current for the power shift pressure solenoids. The adjustment provides the main pump power and swing pump power that is appropriate for the selected mode and the machine model. The ECM will supply the electrical current to the Swing Pump Power Shift Solenoid based on the software map defined for each machine model. The ECM will also factor in a "Swing Aggressiveness" offset parameter that can be configured by the operator. The "Swing Aggressiveness" offset parameter is used to change the operating speed of the machine swing function. The parameter can be configured using Cat ET or in the Monitor "Performance" menu. This parameter avoids the need to perform a calibration procedure for the swing pump. The ECM will supply the electrical current to the Main Pump Power Shift Solenoid based on the software map that is defined for each different machine model and the Cat ET calibration procedure that is performed on the main pump.The Economy Mode provides the least amount of power output from the main pump and the swing pump. This results in the least amount of load on the engine.The Power Mode provides a higher amount of power output from the pumps that is sufficient for most of the machine workload applications. This results in a higher load on the engine.The Travel Mode is activated by the ECM during machine travel. The ECM will also activate the Travel Mode when a generator is installed on the machine and selected as the active tool. The Travel Mode provides
