Which Generate This Code:A warning is activated when the fuel pressure goes below 245 kPa (36 psi) for ten seconds. The engine begins derate mode when the Electronic Control Module (ECM) has identified fuel pressure that is less than 225 kPa (33 psi) for ten seconds.System Response:The ECM will log the event.Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) will display "Engine Derate" on any Cat ET status screen. The ECM derates the engine power by 17.5 percent per second. The maximum derate is 39 percent. The ECM will restore full power when the fuel pressure rises above 314 kPa (46 psi) for four seconds.The engine power is derated.Test Step 1. Replace the Fuel Filter
Replace the engine's fuel filter. Prime the fuel system.Refer to the engine's Operation and Maintenance Manual for the correct procedure.
