Stopping the engine immediately after it has been working under load can result in overheating and accelerated wear of engine components.Excessive temperatures in the turbocharger centerhousing will cause oil coking problems. Excessive temperatures in the turbocharger centerhousing may damage the turbocharger bearing/shaft system and significantly shorten the life of the turbocharger.Allow the engine to gradually cool before stopping the engine
Use one of the following methods to stop the engine:
Open the main circuit breaker in order to disengage the driven equipment
Press the "STOP" Key.
Press the "AUTO" Key. A stop command will be sent via the RS-485 SCADA Data Link.
After receiving the engine stop signal, the EMCP 4 checks that there are no present system faults.
The EMCP 4 begins the cool down period. In order to bypass the cool down, the operator must hold down the "STOP" Key. "PRESS ENTER TO BYPASS" or "PRESS ENTER TO CONTINUE" will be shown on the display. Press the "ENTER" Key in order to bypass the cool down sequence or press the "ESCAPE" Key in order to continue the cool down sequence. After the cooling cycle is completed, the EMCP 4 initiates an engine shutdown by turning off the fuel supply.The engine will coast to a stop. Ensure that any system that provides external support to the engine is secured after the engine is stopped.
