Entering the machines serial number will not always give the compatible configuration file for the flash file used on the VIMS platform.Note: When searching for the latest production software in SIS web, in the flash software download page, click the "VIMS software & Current Releases" Link. This link will bring up the "DEALER.CAT.COM" web page. Under related links, click "VIMS 3G production software compatibility matrix". The VIMS 3G production flash file and production configuration compatibility matrix will pop up. Search for the correct software files for a specific machine type.Note: Before using communications adapter 3 (CA3), make sure that the PC drivers and CA3 firmware have been updated.Note: Use the latest version of Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) for the optimal machine software support. Use "WinFlash" to flash the new software onto the Module.Note: The configuration files are flashed onto the VIMS module using the latest version of VIMSpc (2015A or later). The following improvements and enhancements are included in the new software:
Updated to support forProduct Link PL641 integration.
Enhanced J1939 Electronic Control Module (ECM) information message by populating name field.
Enhanced support for the Cat fuel consumption monitoring retrofit kit.
Enhanced battery back-up fault (817-12) that could be potentially triggered on a blank ECM, during the flash process.
Enhanced truck ID entry field by removing user input constrains of populating all available spaces.
Improved VIMS webpage error message reported, when viewing through "Google Chrome".
Enhanced error message description, when configuration file is either missing or is incompatible with the flash file.
Enhanced VIMS configuration upload process by supporting header information, indicating whether the configuration is meant for either the main or application module.
Improved Ethernet connectivity for VIMS automatic file push through Communicator.
Enhanced Telemetry reports to start outgoing message sequence at number "0", instead of "1", as defined in the Telemetry protocol.
Enhanced Data Logger channels to report fault status (appropriate DSIs), instead of displaying "0" or some constant value.
Updated Telemetry message to report Service Meter Hours (SMH) in the correct format.Refer to Table 2 for the correct flash file and compatible configuration file for the VIMS main module without payload support that is installed on certain machine.
