Remove Transmission, Torque Converter And Steering Clutch Scavenge Pump
1. Drain the oil from the power train tank. The capacity of the tank is 47 U.S. gal. (178 litre). Drain the oil from the transmission.2. Put identification on the oil lines for correct installation. 3. Disconnect oil lines (1), (2), (3), (4) and (5) from the scavenge pump. 4. Remove two nuts (6) and washers that hold the scavenge pump in place. Use two persons and remove scavenge pump (7). The weight is 80 lb. 1. Make sure the O-ring seal on the front of the scavenge pump is in position. Put scavenge pump (1) in position and install the two washers and nuts (2) that hold it in place. 2. Connect oil lines (7), (3), (4), (5) and (6) to the scavenge pump.3. Fill the power train tank to the correct level. start by:a) remove transmission, torque converter and steering clutch scavenge pump For easier assembly, put a mark on the outer surface of each of the body assemblies of the pump to show their original location. 1. Remove O-ring seal (1) from cover assembly (2).2. Remove four bolts (3) that hold the pump together. 3. Remove cover assembly (2) from the body assembly. 4. Remove lip type seal (4) and bearings (5) from the cover assembly. Remove O-ring seal (6). 5. Remove two gears (7) from the gear assemblies and converter body assembly (8). 6. Remove key (9) from the gear assembly. 7. Remove converter body assembly (8). Remove the O-ring seal on the back side of the converter body assembly. 8. Remove steering body assembly (10). 9. Remove gears (11) from the gear assemblies. 10. Remove key (12) from the gear assembly. 11. Remove O-ring seal (13) from the transmission body assembly. Remove transmission body assembly (14). 12. Remove drive gear assembly (15) and driven gear assembly (16) from manifold assembly (17). 13. Remove O-ring seal (18) and two bearings (19) from manifold assembly (17).Assemble Transmission, Torque Converter And Steering Clutch Scavenge Pump
Clean and put a thin layer of lubricant on all the inside parts of the pump before assembly.1. Inspect all O-ring seals for damage and make replacements if needed. 2. Install two bearings (1) into manifold assembly (4) and the cover assembly with tooling (A) and a press. The distance from the top of the bearing to surface (3) after assembly is .062 in. (1.57 mm).
Make sure the joint in bearings (1) is in the correct location. The location of the joint is an angle of 30° 15° from the center line of the two bearing bores in the direction of groove (2) in surface (3).
3. Install O-ring seal (7) on manifold assembly (4).4. Install drive gear assembly (5) and driven gear assembly (6) in the manifold assembly as shown. Make sure the mark put on the
