Rework Procedure
The cruise control 'ON/OFF' switch has 2 lamps that allow either half of the switch to be illuminated individually (see Illustration 1). Currently when the dash lights are on, the 'ON' portion of the switch is illuminated and the 'OFF' portion of the switch is never illuminated. This also caused a fault code 81 147 04 to be logged every time the ignition switch is turned on. The correct operation should have the "OFF" portion illuminated when the dash lights are on and the "ON" portion illuminated when the cruise control is engaged.
1. Remove brake bypass filter indicator from steering console. This is in the middle of the console directly above the steering wheel with the symbol shown in Illustration 2.2. Remove brake bypass filter indicator from the base.3. Remove 113-OR wire from Position A of the base.4. Splice a 12 inch, 18 gage wire (preferably orange) to the 113-OR Wire about 2 inches from the terminal. Solder and apply heat shrink to the splice.5. Crimp a 3E7790 Terminal to the other end of the wire just added.6. Install 113-OR wire Position A of the base.7. Remove the cruise control 'ON/OFF' switch from the steering console.8. Remove the switch from its base.9. Remove the 200-BK wire from Position B of the base. Cut off the terminal from 200-BK wire and add heat shrink to the exposed end. Install terminal from 12 inch spliced wire in Position B.10. Exchange the wires in Positions A (F707-WH) and C (601-GY). The switch should now be wired according to the Illustration 3.11. Install switch and brake bypass filter indicator to their bases and reinstall in steering console.
