Remove the water pump.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Remove O-ring seal (1) from adapter (2) .
Remove adapter (2) with a screwdriver. Remove the seal from the edge of adapter (2) .
Remove bolt (3) and the washer.

Remove impeller (4) from the water pump housing with Tool (A) .

Remove seal assembly (5). Remove the ring and seal (6) .

Remove the bolt and the washer that holds gear (7) on the water pump shaft.
Remove gear (7) with Tool (B) .
Remove the bolts and retainer (9) .
Remove O-ring seal (8) .

Remove shaft (10) and bearings as a unit.
Remove bearing (11), spacer (12), and bearing (13) from shaft (10) .
Remove the lip type seal from the gear side of the water pump. Remove the ring and the seal from the impeller side of the water pump.
