Information:
The Cat ID provides the capability to modify four customer parameters on 3100 HEUI Engines. These include Low Idle, Fast Idle #1, Fast Idle #2, and Soft Cruise.Accessing Customer Parameters
The ECM customer programmable parameters determines the access to this function of the dash display. If the ECM is not programmed to allow access to this screen, the entire Customer Parameter column of the screen map will not be shown. Therefore, pressing the Right arrow key from the Diagnostic Data title screen (if Theft Deterrent is not programmed) will skip over the Customer Parameter title screen. After programming the parameters in the ECM, power to the display must be turned OFF and then turned ON for the display to recognize the change.Adjusting Customer Parameters
Low Idle, Fast Idle #1, and Fast Idle #2
The procedure to modify Low Idle, Fast Idle #1, and Fast Idle #2 is identical. Follow the procedure listed below.
Entering Low Idle (the same procedure is also used for Fast Idle #1 and Fast Idle #2)1. From the CUSTOMER PARAMETERS title screen, press the Down arrow key and go to the desired Customer Parameter. The display will show the current setting of the parameter on the second line.2. By pressing the Left arrow key from the desired CUSTOMER PARAMETER screen, the display will move to the screen showing Enter ... (Low Idle, Fst Idle#1, or Fst Idle#2) on the first line. The display will also show a flashing cursor (left most digit) next to the word RPM on the second line.a. Pressing the Down arrow key scrolls through numbers zero (0) through nine (9) beginning with nine (9).b. Pressing the Up arrow key begins with the number one (1).c. If the first entry space is not needed, press the Right arrow key and the second digit begins blinking. When the appropriate number is in view, press the Right arrow key and move to the next digit. When the last digit is successfully selected, press the Right arrow key and the display will indicate the actual value entered.3. If the number is correct, press the Left arrow key and a message will appear to verify the modification. If an error was made when entering the value, press the Down, Up, or Right arrow key and the display will return to the CUSTOMER PARAMETER title screen, where the value can be re-entered. If a value, out of the allowable limits, is chosen for the Customer Parameter, the Cat ID will display OUT OF RANGE on the first line. It will also indicate the actual programmed value on the second line. Ranges for allowable settings of the Low Idle, Fast Idle #1, and Fast Idle #2 parameters are stored in the ECM. When trying to set a customer parameter to a value that is out of the allowable range,
