This Revised Service Letter replaces the 08Aug2008 Service Letter. Changes have been made to correct the Mail Code numbers.

PROBLEM
Some 0R-3841 and 0R-4446 Cylinder Packs were found with incorrect Pistons. The incorrect piston may result in white smoke after engine start-up.
ACTION REQUIRED
Inspect all 0R-3841 and 0R-4446 Cylinder Packs in Dealer Parts Stock with label date codes on the box from April 1, 2008 thru June 26, 2008.
The label date code for the piston is located on the part number tag on the outside of the packing box. The date code appears as a DDMMYY code (ie. D01M04Y08 = 01 April, 2008).
The part number of the piston is located on the strut of the piston.
0R-3841 Cylinder Packs should include a 7C-2431 or 311-1751 Pistons.
0R-4446 Cylinder Packs should include a 9Y-4124 or 10R-0894 Pistons.
Cylinder packs equipped with the correct piston should be repackaged in the original packaging and returned to dealer parts stock.
Cylinder packs equipped with the incorrect piston should be removed from Dealer Parts Stock.
SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES
Submit one claim for all parts removed from dealer parts stock.
PARTS DISPOSITION
PLEASE IGNORE THE NORMAL 15 DAY HOLDING PERIOD REQUIREMENT. Package these parts separately from normal cores on shipment and label each case with PIXXXXX. All parts returned must have a Core Credit Request (CCR) entered into CMIS2 to allow for core credit refund to be processed. Remember to document your Cat warranty claim number on the CCR to ensure 100% core credit is processed for the returned parts. Ship the cylinder packs to:
