In some engines, interference between the camshaft drive gears and mounting bolts for the flywheel housing has been found. This condition caused binding, even though the bolts for the gears were torqued properly. The binding increases wear on the engine side of the camshafts thrust plates.Solution
If interference is found between a camshaft gear and mounting bolts for the flywheel housing, replace the camshaft drive gear with a new gear of the same part number.
