The sensor will report a low resistance when oil is present in the tank. When sufficient fluid is not present, the sensor will not complete the electrical circuit (open condition). The sensor requires a voltage between 4.5 VDC and 36 VDC for proper operation. The sensor is designed to test for an oil level in relation to the location of the sensor.The Engine Oil Level sensor is located near the base of the engine oil pan. When sufficient fluid is not present, the sensor will not complete the electrical circuit (open condition). The sensor requires a voltage between 4.5 VDC and 36 VDC for proper operation. The sensor is designed to test for an oil level in relation to the location of the sensor.The temperature sensor is designed to operate in a range from 120° C (248° F) to −40° C (−40° F). The input voltage required for the sensor is 7.5 VDC to 8.5 VDC (8 V nominal). The sensor is a pulse width modulated sensor operating a frequency of 500 200 Hz. At a low duty cycle (approximately 10%), the corresponding temperature is around −40° C (−40° F).
