Thread the shorter end of stud (69) to the ladder pin assembly, then thread on a nut (70) and clevis (71). Tighten and jam the nut against the clevis.

Attach the clevises of the two cables to clevis (71) installed to the pin assembly. Use pin (67), and retain it with cotter pin (68).

Install the bracket (72) over the cables and hinge plate. Remove the two bolts and washers installed previously and use to attach bracket (72) to the mounting plates on the frame.Testing the Release Levers

With both release levers installed, either cable can be pulled at a time. When a lever is pulled, the cable will pull on the pin assembly to unkey the pin from the ladder assembly. Now the ladder assembly can be manually lowered or raised.Test both levers, one at a time, to make sure that the cables pull the pin assembly enough to release the ladder assembly.The levers are not sprung, so the levers will need to be raised back into the original position. This movement allows the pin and ladder to key into each other under spring tension.Completing the Installation

With everything functioning properly, use a laptop computer with Caterpillar Electronic Technician and Com-Adapter clear the ladder codes generated during the installation process.Updating Machine Configuration in SIMSI
Contact your Dealer Technical Communicator or responsible personnel to have the Product Configuration updated in SIMSI for the new ladder group.This procedure will document the powered ladder attachment being installed and allow the machine to be included in any service programs that pertain to the attachment.Codes Associated with the Powered Step
The operator will have to remember to put the ladder assembly down before attempting to climb out of the cab to exit the machine.The operator will have to remember to raise and stow up the powered ladder to before releasing park brake and operating the machine. An audible alarm will sound and an indicator light on the dash will illuminate. A display message will appear to notify the operator if the ladder is down, key is on, and the park brake is turned off.Code EID: 1337 Access Ladder Lowered from the Transmission/Chassis ECM is displayed during the following occurrences:
When the parking brake is released, key is on, and the ladder is still down.
The ladder position switch and magnet are out of range from one another when ladder is stowed up.Note: Excessive play in ladder assembly can cause this code when the ladder assembly stowed up is bouncing around
