Introduction
The parking brake prevents machine movement when the machine is stopped. The brake is spring-activated and hydraulically released. This procedure provides the method to test the parking brakes.Required Tools

Required Tools
Tool Item Qty Part No Description
A 2 6V-9830 Cap As
B B1 2 6V-9509 Plugs
B2 2 6V-8398 O-Ring Seals Test Preparation
Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.
Illustration 1 g06250503
Move propel lever (1) to the NEUTRAL position.
Move parking brake switch (2) to the ON position.
Place the engine in ECO mode or in low idle.
Illustration 2 g06250549
Select "Main Menu" (3) on the machine display.
Select "Machine Setup" (4).
Illustration 3 g06250567
Select "Engine Spd Sw" (5)
Illustration 4 g06250569
Select "ECO" (7) or "Low" (6).Note: Shutting down the engine in high idle may damage engine components
Illustration 5 g06250571
Move engine start switch (8) to the OFF position.

Front propel motor
Disconnect brake supply hose assembly (9) to both motors. Use Tool (M) to cap the port. Use Tool (N) to plug the hose.
Use a suitable lifting device to lift the drums off the ground. Refer to the "Specifications" section for the approximate machine weight.Test Procedure
Move engine start switch (8) to the START position. Release the switch when the engine starts.
Operate the engine at low idle for a few minutes then, place the engine in high idle.
Illustration 8 g06253024
Monitor hydraulic oil temperature (10) on the operator display . Operate the machine until the oil temperature reaches the test temperature given in the "Specifications" section.
Illustration 9 g06253997
Use propel speed range switch (12) to shift the propel motors into the HIGH-SPEED position. Note: Two things indicate when the propel motors are in the HIGH-SPEED position. First, "Propel Mode High" will appear on the display. Second, two LEDs next to propel speed range switch (12) will be illuminated.
Use speed control switches (11) to set the propel speed to 100 percent.Note: Two things indicate when the propel speed is set to 50 percent. First, "Speed Control % 100" will appear on the display. Second, seven LEDs next to speed control switches (11) will be illuminated.
Move parking brake switch (2) to the OFF position.
Move propel lever (1) to the FULL-FORWARD position. Observe each drum for movement.
Move propel lever (1) to the FULL-REVERSE position. Observe each drum for movement.
Move propel lever (1) to the NEUTRAL position.
Place the engine in ECO mode or in low idle.
Move engine start switch (8) to the OFF position.
If either drum moved during the brake test, check the main relief pressure in accordance with Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Relief Valve (Main) - Test and Adjust" in this publication. If the main relief pressure is within specifications, the brake for that drum must be repaired or replaced.
Remove the tooling. Reconnect the brake supply hose assemblies.
Use a suitable lifting device to lower the machine to the ground. Refer to the "Specifications" section for the approximate machine weight.
