Procedure For Transmission Speed Sensor Adjustments

Access Location on the Transmission Case (1) Transmission Case (2) 146-6670 Cover(3) 146-6669 Gasket(4) Six 9X-6458 Washers(5) Six 0S-1594 Bolts 1. Remove six bolts (5) and six washers (4) in order to remove cover (2) and gasket (3).

Transmission Speed Sensor Access Location(6) two OS-0509 Bolts(7) Two 5M-2894 Washers(8) 144-7874 Bracket Assembly(A) Four Receptacle Assembles If necessary, mark the receptacle assemblies (A) so that they can be connected in the correct positions when speed sensor adjustments have been completed.2. Remove two bolts (6) and two washers (7) in order to remove bracket assembly (8). Disconnect receptacle assemblies (A).

Transmission Speed Sensor Adjustments(9) 3E-8848 Magnetic Speed Sensor (10) 152-1330 Bracket Assembly (B) Locknut(C) Wrench Flats 3. Position a gear tooth directly in the center of the opening for speed sensor (9).4. Loosen locknut (B). Turn speed sensor (9) in the clockwise direction until the end of the speed sensor (9) contacts the gear tooth.5. Turn speed sensor (9) in the counterclockwise direction for one-half of a turn (180 degrees in the counterclockwise direction). 6. Use wrench flats (C) in order to keep the speed sensor (9) from turning. Tighten locknut (B) to a torque of 25 5 N m (18 4 lb ft). Do not allow speed sensor (9) to turn as locknut (B) is tightened.7. If necessary, repeat Steps 2 through 6 for each speed sensor (9).8. Replace bracket assembly (8) with two washers (7) and two bolts (6).9. Connect receptacle assemblies (A) in the original positions. If necessary, refer to Chart A for the receptacle connection requirements.10. Use six washers (4) and six bolts (5) in order to replace gasket (3) and cover (2). Start the six bolts by hand. Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 47 9 N m (35 7 lb ft). Assemble cover (2) with the part number visible. st
