Information:
The Engine Control Module (ECM) detects the following conditions:
The parameter "Default Torque Limit Master Source Address" is programmed to a value greater than "0" to select a vehicle module for which a Configurable Default Torque Limit (CDTL) is desired. A value of "0" disables this parameter.
The selected module must communicate by SAE J1939 data link and be compatible with the CDTL feature.
J1939 error input from selected vehicle module to engine derate switch
J1939 message not available from selected vehicle module
J1939 loss of message, message not received, message missing from selected moduleSystem Response:The ECM will apply the most recently received Default Torque Limit value.Possible Performance Effect:The ECM will derate the engine to the Default Torque Limit value most recently received from the selected vehicle module. The DTL value is stored in non-volatile memory and will be retained until a new value is received from the selected module, or until the parameter is disabled by programming it to "0".
If a selected vehicle module's J1939 master source address is programmed, but the engine did not yet receive a DTL value from the module, torque limiting will not occur.
If the engine has previously recognized a DTL torque value and is subsequently removed for dyno testing or the ECM is swapped to another engine, the ECM continues to store the most recent DTL value and continues to limit torque, unless the feature is disabled by programming it to "0".Troubleshooting: Test Step 1. Perform the following diagnostic procedure: "Powertrain Data Link Circuit - Test".
Verify that the programmed value of the Default Torque Limit J1939 Master Source Address parameter is correct for the intended vehicle module. Expected Result:The programmed value of the Default Torque Limit J1939 Master Source Address parameter is correctResults:
OK - The programmed value of the Default Torque Limit J1939 Master Source Address parameter is correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.
Not OK - The programmed value of the Default Torque Limit J1939 Master Source Address parameter is not correct.Repair: Program the correct value for the Default Torque Limit J1939 Master Source Address parameter.STOPTest Step 2. Verify that the selected vehicle module is compatible with the CDTL feature.
