Always wear goggles when the air conditioning system is opened. This system is charged with Freon-12 (CCL2F2 Dichlorodifluoromethane) which is not toxic or flammable. But there is a reason for caution. When Freon-12 makes contact with a flame, lethal phosgene gas is made. INHALING FREON THROUGH A LIGHTED CIGARETTE CAN CAUSE VIOLENT ILLNESS. This system is under pressure at all times, engine running or not. HEAT MUST NEVER BE PUT ON A CHARGED SYSTEM.
1. Release the Freon-12 from the system. See AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATING, Purging The System, Form No. SENR7454.2. Remove the mirror and bracket assembly (3) from the cab.3. Loosen the setscrew and remove control knobs (4) from the unit.4. Remove the seven bolts (1) and lower duct assembly (2). 5. Disconnect hoses (6) from each side of duct assembly (2).6. Put identification on the electric wires for correct installation. Disconnect electric wires (7), (8), (9) and wiring harness (5) from duct assembly (2). 7. Disconnect heater hose (10) from tube (12). Disconnect drain lines (13), (14) and refrigerant lines (11) from the left side of the unit. 8. Disconnect drain lines (15) and (18) from the right side of the unit. Disconnect heater line (16) from hose (17). 9. Remove five bolts (19) and loosen screw assembly (20) to lower the air conditioning and heating unit. 10. Remove bolts (22) and the washers to disconnect bracket (21) and the screw assembly from the unit. 11. Remove five bolts (25). Two persons must lift the air conditioning and heating unit off of brackets (23) and (24) and out of the cab. The weight of the air conditioning and heating unit (26) is 90 lb. (41 kg).Install Air Conditioning And Heating Unit

1. Two persons must be used to lift the air conditioning and heating unit (5) into the cab and in position on brackets (1) and (3). The weight of the air conditioning and heating unit is 90 lb. (41 kg).2. Install five bolts (4) to hold unit (5). Put heater line (2) in position in brackets (1) and (3). 3. Lift the air conditioning and heating unit enough to connect screw assembly (7) and the bracket with bolts (6) and the washers.4. Tighten screw assembly (7) to lift the air conditioning and heating unit into position and install the five bolts to hold the unit to the top of the cab. 5. Connect drain lines (8) and (11) to the unit. Connect heater line (9) to hose (10) on the left side of the unit. 6. Connect drain lines (12), (15) and refrigerant lines
