Air-To-Air Heat Exchangers
The cooling unit is installed on the motor. The air tubes in the heat exchanger are normally made of aluminum.The inner air is circulated by a fan and/or by the rotor. The fan may be mounted on the shaft or driven by a separate motor. Circulation may be axially symmetrical or asymmetrical.The outer air flow is normally created by a fan. This fan may be mounted on the shaft or driven by a separate motor. Connection to external air pressure is also possible.Temperature detectors are used for monitoring the stator temperature and determining when maintenance is required. If an abnormal temperature or a temperature near the alarm level is shown for the stator, clean the coolers. Refer to the following sections when performing maintenance on the heat exchanger.Cleaning the coolers
The heat exchangers should be cleaned at regular intervals depending on the properties of the cooling air. Inspect the heat exchanger frequently during the initial periods of operation.Blow the heat exchanger with compressed air or use a suitable brush to clean. Do not use a steel brush in aluminum tubes as the steel will damage the tubes. Use a soft round brass wire brush.
