Remove And Install Oil Cooler
1. Drain the coolant from the cooling system.2. Drain the oil from the oil cooler. The oil cooler can be removed without removing the electrical box, electrical conduit or the engine sensor devices. If however, it is felt that they could be damaged or to increase working room, four bolts (1) can be removed from the rear of the electrical box and the box moved up and away from the oil cooler. 3. Remove two bolts (2). Remove adapter and pipe (3) as a unit. Weight of the adapter and pipe is 9 kg (22 lb). 4. Remove and plug oil line (4) and oil line (5). Remove two bolts and flanges (6) that connect water pipe (7) to the oil cooler. It may be desirable to remove water pipe (7), however it is not necessary to allow the oil cooler to be removed. 5. Remove three clamps (8) which will allow hose (10) to be moved out of the way. Attach a hoist and two straps to the oil cooler and remove two bolts (9). 6. Remove two bolts (11) from front under portion of oil cooler. These two bolts are located directly above the fuel transfer pump. 7. Slowly hoist the oil cooler away from the engine. It will separate at point (A) and (B). Both points have slip fit O-ring connections. Weight of the oil cooler is 84 kg (185 lb). Installation of the oil cooler is accomplished in the exact reverse order from removal. Prior to installation, lubricate all slip fit O-ring seals on the ends of pipes and oil cooler with clean oil to insure proper installation. Replace the gasket on the opposite end of pipe (2). Check the oil level, and replace any oil that has been lost during removal with clean oil. Refill the cooling system with fluid. See the Maintenance Manual for correct fluid levels.Disassemble Oil Cooler
