This guideline contains fluid compartment filtration times for Caterpillar machines. The filtration times given in this special instruction are guidelines to be used when filtering machine fluid compartments. There are many variables that can change the filtration times for each fluid compartment. The total contamination level of the oil will decrease steadily, over time. Kidney loop filtration is a slow process. However, kidney loop filtration is less costly than oil changes and the resulting labor or other types of system clean-up. Machine-specific Contamination Control Guidelines can be found in Service Information System website. The following filtration times are not to be considered a minimum or maximum time limit. Use the following filtration times as a guideline for filtering fluid compartments without the aid of a portable particle counter. Important Safety Information
