Install shims (13) that were determined in Step 4. Install O-ring seal (12) into the housing.

Install cover (10) . Use Tooling (A) in order to install retaining ring (9) .

Install plate (8) into the housing.

Place housing (15) into a soft jawed vise.
Install Tooling (E) onto housing (15) . Do not allow the bolt on Tooling (E) to contact the plate.
Use Tooling (F) in order to measure the depth to the plate. Take this measurement in more than one location.
Tighten the bolt on Tooling (E) . This will push the plate and the barrel downward. Continue downward until resistance is met. Do not use force.
Again measure the depth to the plate. Record the difference between the two measurements. Subtract 0.325 0.075 mm (0.013 0.003 inch) from the measurement. This is the correct thickness of shim (13) .
Remove Tooling (E) .

Disassemble the piston motor in order to install shim (18) . Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Motor (Hydraulic Fan) - Disassemble" for the correct procedure.
Install shim (18) that was determined in Step 20. Install spring (17) into barrel (16) .

Install barrel (16) onto the pistons.

Raise the temperature of housing (14) to 80 °C (176 °F). Lower the temperature of rotating group (15) .
Install rotating group (15) into housing (14) . Do not allow the barrel to separate from the pistons during the installation procedure. Allow all components to reach a uniform temperature.

Install shims (13) and O-ring seal (12) into the housing.

Position head (2) . Install bolts (1) . Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 72 15 N m (53 11 lb ft).
If equipped, install poppet valve (6) . Install spring (5) . Install O-ring seal (4) onto plug (3) . Install plug (3) . Tighten plug (3) to a torque of 240 N m (177 lb ft).End By: Install the piston motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Motor (Hydraulic Fan) and Fan - Install".
