The 291-3802 Alternator Guards may crack on certain 6060 mining shovels. The Cracking can occur at varying hours and in all environments and conditions.Typical cracks are shown in the images below.

Caterpillar® is aware of this problem. Replace the 291-3802 Alternator Guard with the same part. Inspect the mounting bracket for contingent damage, if hardware becomes loose.
