Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the exhaust manifold. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Exhaust Manifold - Remove".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Disconnect the two hoses that are connected to the water temperature regulator housing. Plug or cap any openings.

Remove bolts (9) and washers (8) from cover (7). Remove cover (7), gasket (5), and water temperature regulator (6) from water temperature regulator housing (3) .
Remove nuts (1) and bolts (2) from water temperature regulator housing (3) .
Remove water temperature regulator housing (3) and gasket (4) from the exhaust manifold.Installation Procedure
Clean all gasket surfaces.

Position water temperature regulator housing (3) and gasket (4) on the exhaust manifold.
Install nuts (1) and bolts (2) .
Position cover (7), gasket (5), and water temperature regulator (6) on water temperature regulator housing (3) .
Install washers (8) and bolts (9) in cover (7) .End By: Install the exhaust manifold. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Exhaust Manifold - Install".
