Service Magazine SEPD0870, 01 January 2007, "Replacement of Fuel Injectors". Disregard this article. See the article that follows.Use the following procedure before you replace an injector.
Check for shorts in the injector wiring harness and in the connection between the harness and the injector before you change an injector for an electrical short.
Ensure that the routing of the injector harness is clear of moving components that are under the valve cover. This includes the coil spring of the injector.
Failures of the injector cannot cause a failure of the rocker arm. Failure of the rocker arm can cause a failure of the injector. Ensure that the injector has actually failed after failure of a rocker arm before the injector is replaced.
Replace the fuel injector if fuel is leaking in the areas that are outlined in Special Instruction, REHS3007.Note: When a Scheduled Oil Sampling is submitted, please ensure that the correct oil grade is included.Note: The Special Instruction, REHS3007 allows a lower oil viscosity than the Scheduled Oil Sampling labs. The Scheduled Oil Sampling report may indicate a problem with fuel dilution when the viscosity is below the normal limit but above the Special Instruction, REHS3007 limit.
