Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the boom winch drive motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Winch Drive Motor - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Put identification marks on all hoses and on all hose assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the removal procedure, the exterior of the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Disconnect hose assemblies (1) and (2).
Disconnect harness assembly (3).
Disconnect hose assemblies (4) and (5).

Attach a suitable lifting device to hook winch motor (7). The weight of hook winch motor (7) is approximately 68 kg (150 lb).
Remove bolts (6).
Use the suitable lifting device in order to remove hook winch motor (7) from the hook winch.
