Put a thin layer of oil on the surfaces of metal seals that are in contact just before installation. Seal rings must be assembled square with the bore. The toric seal must not be bulged. The toric seal must not be twisted.(10) Align the hole in gear (18) with the drain hole in the housing (10).(11) Vent valve must be in position shown.(12) Lubricate sealing lip lightly with lubricant being sealed. Install seal with lip toward bearing. Bearing Preload Adjustment1. Torque three bolts (13) to 35 5 N m (26 4 lb ft). Measure gap (A) between plate (16) and shaft (14).2. Install shims (15) equal to gap (A) minus 0.030 to 0.080 mm (.0012 to .0031 in).3. Tighten bolts (13) again to 150 20 N m (110 15 lb ft).4. Continue to tighten bolts (13) until drive pins (17) can be installed in the pin holes opposite the bolt heads. Drive pins (17) into holes.
