Description of Change: The new alternator bracket is more rugged in design. The new alternator bracket is able to withstand higher frequencies of vibration, which eliminates the risk of cracking.Adaptable To: The new 336-1408 Support Bracket is a direct replacement for the old 243-3022 Bracket As. The 8T-4136 Bolts that were used to mount the alternator bracket to the block will be replaced by the new 8T-4195 Bolts .
Disconnect all power supplies before starting maintenance.
Remove the V-belts from the pulleys.
Remove the alternator.

Loosen the four bolts (1). Refer to Illustration 1.
Remove the three bolts (2). Refer to Illustration 1.

Remove the four bolts (3) and remove the washers. Discard the bolts. Refer to Illustration 2.

(4) 336-1408 Support Bracket (5) 8T-4195 Bolts
Install the support bracket (4) with the 8T-4195 Bolts and the washers that were removed in Step 6.Tighten the bolts (5) to the following torque. ... 240 40 N m (177 30 lb ft)Refer to Illustration 3.

Install the V-belts onto the pulleys.
Install the alternator.
Reconnect the main power supply.The change is effective at the factory with the following engine serial numbers that are listed in Table 1.
