426, 428, 436, 438 Backhoe LoadersThe stop lamp may stay on after the brake pedal has been released. The problem has been reported as faulty 6T5925 Switch Assemblies (stop lamp switches) when the problem is actually brake pedal linkage binding. Brake pedal linkage binding may not allow the stop lamp switch assembly to open.
The problem can be corrected by spraying a suitable lubricant on the pivot points of the brake pedal linkage.
If lubricating the linkage does not solve the problem, check the adjustment of the stop lamp switch assembly. The brake pedal should allow the switch to be opened just before the pedal contacts the mechanical stop. The stop lamp switch should not be used as the mechanical stop.
