Start By:
Remove the idler.

Use Tooling (A) to raise the machine. Raise the machine to remove the front track roller. Use Tooling (B) to support the machine.

Remove plate assembly (1). Repeat for the opposite side.

Use Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to remove track roller (3). The weight of track roller (3) is approximately 73 kg (160 lb). Remove bolts (2) and track roller (3).

Recoil system contains high-pressure nitrogen cylinder. Parts can separate with explosive force if proper care is not used during disassembly.This action can cause serious injury or death.Do not disassemble any part of this cylinder until you have read and understand the instructions given in the service manual. Observe the instructions given in the service manual.
Operating the machine with low pressure in the Nitrogen accumulator for the recoil system may cause damage to the machine. Replace any accumulator that will not maintain nitrogen pressure.
Note: Loss of Nitrogen (N2) charge in the recoil system may cause extra loosening of the track. This pressure may be retained inside the track roller frame. Take caution when removing the track adjust cover.
Attach a suitable lifting device to track adjuster and recoil cylinder (5). The weight of track adjuster and recoil cylinder (5) is approximately 186 kg (410 lb). Remove bolts (4). Reposition track adjuster and recoil cylinder (5).
Reposition the suitable lifting device and remove track adjuster and recoil cylinder (5).

Attach a suitable lifting device to track adjuster (6). The weight of track adjuster (6) is approximately 86 kg (190 lb). The weight of recoil cylinder (8) is approximately 100 kg (220 lb). Remove bolts (7) and separate track adjuster (6) from recoil cylinder (8).Note: After removal of the track adjuster, fill grease to grease fitting (9) on the track adjustor bearing.Installation Procedure
Install track adjuster and recoil cylinder (5) in the reverse order of removal.

Measure Dimension (Y) to ensure that recoil cylinder (8) is installed correctly into the roller frame. Dimension (Y) should measure 15 - 40 mm (0.6 1.6 inch).Note: If dimension (Y) is less than the specified measurement check for incorrect installation of recoil cylinder. If dimension (Y) is greater than the specified measurement, the recoil cylinder needs checked for proper charge levels. Refer to KENR5160 (Testing and Adjusting) for the proper testing and charging procedure.
Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 900 100 N m (665 75 lb ft).
