Component Code: 1421SUBJECT: New Power Converters Will Eliminate a Problem that Occurs on Certain Caterpillar Radio/CD Players
PROBLEM:
On the machines listed above, the 159-1549 Power Converter may cause the radio/CD player to lose newly stored information. If the radio/CD player is in the ON position when the machine?s key switch is turned to the OFF position, any newly stored information on the radio/CD player may be lost. While the machine key switch is in the OFF position, the 159-1549 Power Converter does not provide sufficient current to the radio/CD player to update the radio memory.
SOLUTION:
To eliminate this problem, the user has two options. The first option is to replace the 159-1549 Power Converter with the new 209-0381 Power Converter. The new 209-0381 Power Converter will eliminate the problem. The second option is to always turn the radio/CD player OFF before turning the key switch to the OFF position. This option will allow the radio/CD player to properly shut down and save all of the operator?s preset information. Replacing the radio/CD player is not necessary to correct this problem.
