This Program can only be administered after a failure occurs. The decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS5457" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. Use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the September 4, 1998 (Revised December 1999) Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Service Claim Allowances.

The 7T8174 and 6P2234 Planet Gears cause early failure of the transmission in certain D4C and D5C Tractors. This program replaces the September 1996 Service Letter which was issued to provide dealer relief from the higher than expected failure rate.

Remove all 7T8174 Planet Gears with date codes prior to Dec. 97 and all 6P2234 Planet Gears with date codes prior to 16 Feb. 98 from dealer Parts Stock.
Affected Product
Rebuild the transmission using new parts as required. Replace all 7T8174 Planet Gears, 6Y6832 Planet Bearings, 6P2234 Planet Gears, and 8E5284 Planet Bearings in the transmission.
Be sure to check the date code on all 7T8174 and 6P2234 Planet Gears. Use only 7T8174 Planet Gears with date codes of DEC97 or later and 6P2234 Planet Gears with date codes of 16FEB98 or later.
