Machine Roading
Inflate the tires to the correct pressure. Consult your tire dealer for the recommended tire pressure for roading. Bring the coolant, oil and fuel up to their proper levels.Do not travel over 40 km/h (25 mph).Every 40 km (25 miles), or 1 hour, stop for 30 minutes to inspect the machine and let the tires and parts cool.Obey all traffic regulations.Machine Shipping
Investigate the travel route for overpass clearances. Make sure there will be adequate clearance if the machine being transported is equipped with a ROPS, cab or canopy. To prevent the machine from slipping while loading, or shifting in transit, remove ice, snow or other slippery material from the loading dock and the truck bed before loading.
Obey all state and local laws governing the weight, width and length of a load.Observe all regulations governing wide loads.
1. Block the trailer or rail car wheels before loading (trailer shown). 2. Move the transmission control lever to NEUTRAL. 3. Move the lever to the left, to engage the parking brake.4. Stop the engine.5. Turn the start key switch to OFF and remove the key.6. Turn the disconnect key switch to OFF and remove the key.7. Secure the machine with tie-downs when transporting on a rail car or a tractor-trailer.8. Cover the exhaust opening to prevent the turbocharger from "windmilling" in transit. To protect the cooling systems, mix the antifreeze and water solution to provide protection to the lowest expected outside temperature, or drain the cooling systems completely.Obey state and local laws governing weight, width and the height of the load. Perform a "Walk-Around Inspection" and measure the fluid levels in the various compartments.Check with the proper officials to obtain the required permits, etc. Travel at a moderate speed. Observe all speed limitations when roading the machine.Machine Lifting and Tiedown Information
Improper lifting or tiedowns can allow load to shift and can cause injury and damage.
1. Weight and instructions given herein apply to machine as manufactured by Caterpillar Inc.Assembled truck (793) 355 351 kg (781,772 lb)2. Use proper rated cables and slings for lifting. Position crane for level machine lift.3. Spreader bar widths should be sufficient to prevent contact with machine.4. Use the rear and front axle housing each side for tiedown. Check state and local laws governing weight, width and length of load.Contact your Caterpillar dealer for shipping instructions for your machine.
