Move the machine to a smooth, level location. Move away from working machines and personnel.
Fully retract the counterweight.
Allow only approved personnel on the machine. Keep all other personnel off the machine and in clear view of the operator.

Remove cover (1) in order to access the counterweight control valve.

(2) Counterweight control valve (3) Pressure tap
Counterweight control valve (2) is mounted to the pipelayer frame. Counterweight control valve (2) is located between the hydraulic tank and the operator platform.
Start the engine. Warm the hydraulic oil to a minimum temperature of at least 65° C (150° F).
Attach Tooling (A or B) to the pressure tap (3) .
Operate the engine at high idle.Note: Do not hold the control lever in the RETRACT position at relief pressure for more than five seconds.
Hold the counterweight control lever in the RETRACT position. Check the pressure at Tooling (A or B) . The pressure at Tooling (A or B) should be 17200 345 kPa (2495 50 psi).Adjustment Procedure for Counterweight Relief Valve

Counterweight Relief Valve
If it is necessary to change the pressure setting of the counterweight relief valve, perform the following steps.
Stop the engine.
Remove locknut (6) and loosen locknut (5) .
Turn adjustment screw (7) in the clockwise direction in order to increase the pressure. Turn adjustment screw (7) counterclockwise in order to decrease the pressure.
Hold screw (7) in order to prevent movement while you tighten locknut (5) . Install locknut (6) .
