At assembly, apply 7M7260 Liquid Gasket Material to mating surfaces of cover (1) and case assembly (9).Heat bearing cones for the three gears in oil to a maximum temperature of 250° F (121° C). Bearing Adjustment Procedure:1. Install cages (3), (5) and (7).2. Tighten the bolts evenly, while turning pinion (4), until bearings bind slightly.3. Measure the gap between cover (1) and each of the cages (3), (5) and (7).4. Install the amount of shims (2), (6) and (8) equal to the measured gap plus amount necessary to get an end play of ... .003 to .005 in.(0.08 to 0.13 mm)5. Tighten the cages to lock cones in place.
