Install the new thrust disc (plate) with the four tabs pointing toward the forward planet carrier. A slot is cut radially through the disc, and it is necessary to squeeze the ends of the disc together to make the four tabs fit inside the forward carrier. See Illustration 1.
Illustration 1. Location of the new thrust disc and associated parts.If the former reverse planet carrier is not badly worn, it can be salvaged by machining the face to make room for the thrust disc. Machine only the end opposite the splined end. See Illustration 2.
