Be careful not to damage the carrier bearing surface on the drive shaft when it is lowered from the machine.
1. Remove bolts (3) and straps (2) that hold front drive shaft (1) to the differential pinion shaft.2. Lower the front drive shaft from the machine. Two persons can be needed to remove the drive shaft because of the weight. The weight of the unit is 25 kg (55 lb.). 3. Bend locks (4) back and remove bolts (5). Remove the cap assemblies from the spider. 4. Remove spider (6) from the drive shaft. 5. Remove spring retainer (7) that holds cap assemblies (8).6. Remove cap assemblies (8) from the spider.Install Front Drive Shaft
1. Put clean grease on the needle bearings to hold them in place in caps (2).2. Install caps (2) on the spider and install spring retainer (1) that holds the caps. 3. Put spider (3) in position on the drive shaft. 4. Put clean grease on the needle bearings to hold them in place in cap (4).5. Install caps (4) that hold the spider in place on the drive shaft.6. Install the locks and bolts. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 50 7 N m (37 5 lb.ft.). 7. Put front drive shaft (5) in position on the differential pinion shaft. Install the straps and the bolts. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 135 15 N m (100 11 lb.ft.). end by:a) install drive shaft carrier bearing
