Step 1. Stability potentiometerAdjust the stability potentiometer for the Automatic Voltage Regulator "P3". Refer to Systems Operation, KENR9009, "Stability-Adjust". Results:
OK - The stability adjustment is correct. STOP
Not OK - The stability adjustment is too active. Go to Step 2.Test Step 2. Setting the response time for stabilityCut the jumper "ST2" in order to increase the response time of the stability. Refer to Systems Operation, KENR9009, "Knee Frequency - Adjust".Results:
OK - The stability adjustment is correct. STOP
Not OK - The stability adjustment is too active. Go to Step 3.Test Step 3. Verify that the underfrequency setpoint (knee frequency) is not greater than the operating frequency for the generator. Refer to System Operation, KENR9009, "Stability-Adjust" in order to set the jumper for the frequency "ST3" correctly. The generator set must always operate at the frequency that is set by the "ST3" jumper. Results:
OK - The operating frequency and the underfrequency setpoint is correct. Go to Step 4. Go to Step 4
Not OK - The underfrequency setpoint is too high.Repair: Adjust the setting for the jumper.STOPTest Step 4. Check for the correct input voltage to the voltage regulator. Refer to Service Manual, KENR9009, "Specifications" for input power requirements. Results:
OK - The voltage is at the required level.Repair: Replace the AVR.STOP
Not OK - The input voltage for the voltage regulator is low.Repair: Troubleshoot and repair the wiring connections. Troubleshoot the PMG or the AREP.STOP
