Remove the secondary steering pump and electric motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Secondary Steering Pump and Electric Motor - Remove". Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Remove fittings (4) and the O-ring seals from pump assembly (5). Remove bolts (3), the lock washers and gasket (2) from electric motor group (1). Separate the pump assembly from the electric motor group.

Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a released spring force.Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to release the spring force.
Remove plug (6), the O-ring seals, and the springs.
Remove plug (7) and the O-ring seal.
Remove plug (8) and the O-ring seal.
Remove plug (9) and the O-ring seal. Remove the spring and the valve spool. Refer to Illustration 3. These components are not serviceable.

Use Tooling (A) in order to remove O-ring seal (13), seal ring (14) and backup ring (15).

Remove guide (21) for the gear shafts from flange (22).
Remove two dowels (23) from the flange.

Use Tooling (A) in order to remove seal ring (24) and backup ring (25) from guide (21).
