Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the engine oil from the engine into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil - Change".

Remove four bolts (2) from the fuel lines support bracket (1).

Remove two bolts (3) from the oil pump flange (4).

remove two bolts (5) from the prelubrication pump flange (6).

Remove nine bolts (7) from beneath the damper assembly (8) in the front of the engine.

Remove nine bolts (9) from behind the flywheel housing (10).

Engine removed to show all bolt positions.
Remove 50 bolts (11).

Install Tooling (A) to the engine lifting eyes (Z).
Use a suitable lifting device to remove the engine (12) from the oil pan assembly (13). The engine weighs approximately 8555 kg (18860.5 lb).
Use suitable cribbing to store engine (12).
