This Program must be administered as soon as possible.When reporting the repair, use "PI31361" as the Part Number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Codeand "T" as the SIMS Description code. Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI31361" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number,"96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

This Revised Service Letter replaces the 27Sep2007 Service Letter. Changes have been made to identify the correct engine software flash files corresponding to the marine propulsion engines.

PROBLEM
1) The 7X-1608 Ferrite Bead on the power/ground wires to the ECM may wear into the wire insulation inside the primary and secondary ECM connector covers on certain 3500B Marine Engines. If the wiring routed through the ferrite bead and/or the wiring that surrounds the ferrite bead experience chaffing or wear, this can lead to electrical opens and shorts and cause fault codes and possibly lead to unexpected engine shutdowns.
2) There are new flashfiles for the marine propulsion engines. The new flash files are available on SISWeb and should be installed during this service call. Reference SISWeb to identify and download the correct flash files for the engine being serviced.
