Connect an external oil supply to parking brake supply port (P). Disengage the parking brake by applying an oil pressure of 3620 kPa (525 psi) to parking brake supply port (P) .Note: Do not exceed 3620 kPa (525 psi) as damage to components may occur.

Align the splines of 11 friction discs (17) in brake and spindle assembly (12) .

Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to wheel assembly (11) .
Align the splines on wheel assembly (11) with the splines of friction discs (17) .
Install wheel assembly (11) on the spindle so that the Duo-Cone metal faces make contact.

Raise the temperature of bearing cone (9). Install bearing cone (9) to hub (4) .

Attach a suitable lifting device to hub (4). Install hub (4) to ring gear (5) .

Install three bolts (7) to hub (4) .

Lower the temperature of bushing (10). Install bushing (10) to hub (4) .

Install Tooling (B) in the holes of hub (4). Attach a suitable lifting device to Tooling (B) .
Install hub (4) and ring gear (5) to wheel assembly (6). The weight of the hub and ring gear is approximately 60 kg (133 lb).Note: Step 15 through Step 26 are for the correct wheel bearing adjustment.

Measure the thickness of bearing plate (2). Measure the bearing plate at three places near the small gauge holes. Record the average of these three measurements.

Apply lubricating oil to the threads of five bolts (1) and use the bolts to install bearing plate (2) without shims. Install five bolts (1) finger tight in the locations that are shown in Illustration 12.
Tighten bolts (1) in the bearing plate to a torque of 115 15 N m (85 11 lb ft). Tighten the bolts in the sequence that is shown in Illustration 12.
Rotate the wheel for one revolution and tighten bolts (1) again to a torque of 115 15 N m (85 11 lb ft).
Loosen bolts (1) so that the wheel assembly can slide a slight amount downward on the wheel bearings.
Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 20 7 N m (15 5 lb ft). Tighten bolts (1) in the sequence that is shown in Illustration 12.
Rotate the wheel for one revolution and tighten bolts (1) again to a torque of 20 7 N m (15 5 lb ft).
Measure the distance from the bearing plate to the end of the spindle. Measure the distance through the three small holes in the bearing plate.
Record the average of the three depth measurements. Determine the difference between the average thickness that was measured in Step 15 and the average depth that was measured in Step 22. The difference is the gap that is between the bearing plate and the end of the spindle.
Add 0.1 mm (0.004 inch) to the measurement of the gap that was determined in Step 23. This measurement is the thickness of shims
