The 1N-3762 Cup Plug may be replaced with the new 215-2103 Tappet Plug on the pushrod side of the engine only. DO NOT replace the new 215-2103 Tappet Plug with the 1N-3762 Cup Plug .The new 215-2103 Tappet Plug is adaptable to the engines that are listed above and effective with 3054 (S/N: CSH00215-UP; CYK00231-UP; 4ZK09050-UP; 6FK10031-UP; 5YS11512-UP; 2PW00502-UP), 3054B (S/N: 5MF01444-UP) and 3056 (S/N: 1ML03138-UP; CKS00449-UP; 7MS01420-UP; 3GW00220-UP).If a tappet plug needs to be replaced, perform the removal and installation procedures that follow.Removal of Tappet Plug
Remove the valve mechanism cover.
Loosen only the valve adjustment screws that correspond to the tappet plug for removal. Remove the pushrods.
Use a suitable tool to remove the tappet plug. Remove any old sealant from the tappet plug bore.Installation of Tappet Plug
Ensure that the tappet plug bore in the cylinder block is clean and free from damage.
Apply 6V-6640 Sealant or a comparable plug sealant to the outer edge of the tappet plug (2) .

Position the tappet plug according to Illustration 2.

(3) Depth of tappet plug
Use a suitable tool to install the tappet plug until the tappet plug is recessed to a depth of 3 mm (0.12 inch) from the face of the cylinder block. Refer to Illustration 3.
Remove any excess sealant.
Install the pushrods and locate the pushrods under the valve adjustment screws. Inspect the tappet chamber from the top of the cylinder block in order to ensure that there is clearance between the pushrods and tappet chamber barrier (1) .
Adjust the valve lash.
Install the valve mechanism cover.
