Connect the steering frame lock.
Personal injury can result from hot oil or hot components.At operating temperature, oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns.Remove the fill cap only when the engine is stopped, and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
Apply the parking brake.
Illustration 1 g02709068Note: The transmission oil pump is located on the torque converter case.
Disconnect hose assemblies (1) from transmission oil pump (2).
Disconnect tube assembly (3).

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to transmission oil pump (2).
Remove bolts (4).
Carefully remove transmission oil pump (2) and lower to the ground. The weight of transmission oil pump (2) is approximately 41 kg (90 lb).

Remove nut (5) that holds gear (6).

Use Tooling (B) in order to remove gear (6) from the tapered shaft of transmission oil pump (2).

Remove gasket (7). Remove key (8). Installation Procedure
Install transmission oil pump (2) in reverse order of removal.
Tighten nut (5) to a torque of 110 13 N m (81 10 lb ft).
