Information:
Use this procedure to troubleshoot a suspected problem with a circuit that is for the driven equipment and the emergency stop switches. The state of the emergency stop input allows the Electronic Control Module (ECM) to determine if the operator is ready for engine starting. The state of the driven equipment input allows the ECM to determine if the driven equipment is ready for engine starting. The emergency stop switch can be used by the operator to prohibit engine starting and the switch can be used to shut down the engine. A switch can also be installed by the customer that will check the state of the driven equipment prior to engine starting. The switch can also shut down the engine in the case of adverse operation of the driven equipment. The emergency stop switch is located on the engine control panel. The ECM is configured to record a diagnostic code when the switch is activated. The emergency stop switch is a normally closed switch in the RUN position.Terminal P1-49 at the engine ECM is reserved as a driven equipment input. The circuit may be wired by the customer to a normally closed switch that will become grounded to the -Battery during engine operation. In order for engine starting to be initiated, this terminal must become grounded. Once the circuit is grounded, a delay timer begins to count down a preprogrammed delay. If the circuit becomes open during engine operation, the engine will be shut down. Refer to Systems Operation, "System Configuration Parameters" for information that is related to the "Driven Equipment Delay Time" parameter.Note: The driven equipment input at the engine ECM must be grounded in order for the engine to be cranked. At the factory, the circuit is connected to terminal 16 (-Battery) at the terminal strip that is in the display panel. If a driven equipment check is not being used on this engine, ensure that this wiring is in place.
