First Gear
When first gear is selected, pressure oil from the downshift inhibitor port "K2" goes through the connecting line to oil passage (25). The oil flows through open throttle check valve (26) and passage (27) to area (20) of piston (31). The application of pressure on the piston pushes spring plates (30) together and the clutch is disconnected. First gear is engaged.When second gear is selected, pressure oil from the downshift inhibitor port "K1" goes through the connecting line and open throttle check valve (19) to area (32) of piston (29). The application of pressure on the piston pushes spring plates (28) together and the brake is released. Second gear is engaged.When there is no pressure in the lines connected to ports "K1" and "K2", clutch plates (12) and brake plates (1) are pressed together. In the locked position of the plates, both gears are engaged and the parking brake is applied.Manual Operation of Disconnect Clutch
When towing the vehicle, the mechanically-operated clutch must always be disconnected.
Disconnect the clutch when the machine is towed. To disconnect the clutch, remove the mounting screw of the lever on the housing. Use the lever to move the sliding coupling by pushing the clutch release yoke. When you are done, attach the lever.Low Speed Below Downshift Point

The lubrication pump is directly connected to the output shaft of the transmission and supplies oil flow and pressure to the downshift inhibitor. Since the pump is connected to the output shaft, the pump is designed to provide flow in the same direction for either forward travel or reverse travel.When low speed is selected and the transmission speed is lower than the downshift point, pilot oil is directed through the parking brake solenoid valve and the transmission shift solenoid valve to the shift piston.The force of the spring for the shift piston and the shift pressure for low speed hold the shift piston to the right, which allows pilot oil to flow to the high speed clutch to release the clutch. At the same time, the passage to the low speed clutch is open to the tank.The return check valve seats to the right. When high speed is selected and the transmission speed is lower than the downshift point, pilot oil is directed through the parking brake solenoid and the transmission shift solenoid to the shift piston.The spring force for the shift piston holds the shift piston to the right, which allows pilot oil to flow to the low speed clutch to release the clutch.
