(1) Rear axle oil temperature sensor Rear axle oil temperature sensor (1) is located in the rear axle housing near the rear axle oil pump. Rear axle oil temperature sensor (1) sends input signals to the Vital Information Management System (VIMS). The VIMS warns the operator of a high temperature in the rear axle. Rear axle oil temperature sensor (1) is the main input that is used by the brake ECM in order to control the lubrication system for the rear axle. This data allows the brake ECM to turn the lube system ON or OFF.The machine may be equipped with a cooling fan for the rear axle. If the machine has this cooling fan, the VIMS will activate the cooling fan according to the information that is supplied by the input signals from the sensor.
