TELEHANDLER,
Information:
Avoid serious injury or property damage. The procedures in this manual should only be performed by qualified service personnel who have read and understood the Operator's Manual for this machine.
Attach a warning tag to the steering wheel if unit is under repair or needing work. Even a minor defect can become serious.
Under working conditions, this hydraulic system contains oil under high pressure. Hoses are subject to aging and normal wear which can reduce the capacity of the hose to withstand pressure. A badly aged or damaged hose could burst, causing injury to persons or spraying oil onto hot components of the engine which could cause fire.
Whenever inspection or maintenance work is performed on the hydraulic system, all hydraulic hoses and fittings should be checked. Replace damaged hoses immediately! Refer to the Hydraulic Systems Checks & Maintenance Module for further information.
Introduction
The steer system of the CB-314 compactor is a hydraulically operated system, controlled by means of a steering wheel mechanically connected to a steer valve (orbitrol). The system uses one hydraulic cylinder to provide the steering force. The hydraulic cylinder is n connected to the front and rear frames across a center-point, single articulation pivot assembly. This allows the cylinder to scissor the frame left or right at the pivot point, allowing the machine to turn. The contents of this Module are divided into five sections as follows:COMPONENTSProvides information on the components used in the steer system.OPERATIONDescribes the flow of hydraulic oil through the steer system when the machine is not being turned, when the machine is being turned right, and when the machine is being turned left.TESTS AND ADJUSTMENTSContains procedures that may be followed to check and, if necessary, adjust the operation of the steer system.TEST PROCEDURE FLOW CHARTProvides a method for working through the Tests and Adjustments section to identify a problem in the steer system.TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDESuggests remedies for specific problems that may be encountered in the steer system. Components
A. STEER PUMP1. The steer pump is a fixed-volume gear-type pump. It is connected directly to the engine and is gear-driven. The pump is rated to provide approximately 30 Lpm (8 gpm) of hydraulic oil to the steer system. B. RELIEF VALVE1. The relief valve is located just above the operator's foot rest on the right side of the machine. The relief valve protects the other components of the steer system by allowing any high-pressure spikes of hydraulic oil to return to the hydraulic oil tank. C. STEER VALVE (ORBITROL)1. The steer valve is located directly below the operator's console and is controlled with the steering wheel. It allows the operator to steer the machine by directing hydraulic oil to the steer cylinder. D. STEER CYLINDER1. One double-acting hydraulic cylinder is mounted between the front and rear frames on the right hand side of the machine. Steering is achieved by extending or retracting the cylinder. E. OIL COOLER1. An oil-to-air hydraulic oil cooler is located on top of the engine. Hot return oil from the steer valve goes through
