At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure. Steam can cause personal injury. Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped, and the cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure. Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
1. Release the pressure in the cooling system by slowly loosening the filler cap on the radiator.2. Open lift side engine panel. 3. Remove two bolts (1) and the washers.4. Remove hose assembly (2) and flange (3). 5. Remove gasket (5) and water temperature regulator (4). Install in the reverse order.
If the water temperature regulator is installed wrong, it will cause the engine to overheat. Make sure the vent hole is open and do not use liquid gasket material for a gasket. The cylinder head can be damaged if the vent hole is not open or if the gasket is installed wrong. If the gasket is damaged, use new parts for replacement.
Fill the cooling system to the correct level with coolant. Refer to the Operation & Maintenance Manual the correct level.
